Night Supervision

Night Supervision provides overnight support and monitoring by either awake or asleep staff in the person’s own home, based on a documented need.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, the person must:

  • Live in their own home

  • Have an assessed overnight need in at least one of the following areas:

    • Implementation of positive support plans or transition strategies

    • Reinforcement of skill-building supports (e.g., Individualized Home Supports)

    • Help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

    • Help with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

Covered Services

  • Overnight assistance provided by awake or asleep staff

  • Support must directly relate to the individual’s documented needs in the categories listed above

What’s Not Covered
Night Supervision does not cover:

  • Preventative safety measures for events that haven’t previously occurred

  • Support based on assumptions or undocumented needs

  • Services for individuals who sleep through the night without needing assistance

  • Payment for time when a caregiver (e.g., parent, responsible party, or staff) is asleep and lives in the same home

  • Services that duplicate other Minnesota state plan or waiver services
