Respite Care Services

Respite is short-term care provided to a person when their main caregiver needs a break or is temporarily unavailable.

Primary Caregiver
A primary caregiver is the person (or people) mainly responsible for caring for and supervising the individual receiving services.

Types of Respite Care

• In-Home Respite:
  Care provided in the person’s own home. It can also include time spent in public community spaces (such as parks, malls, or libraries) while the person is still considered to be in their home environment.

• Out-of-Home Respite:
  Care provided in a licensed or unlicensed setting outside of the person’s home. This may also include visits to public places (like malls, parks, or libraries) while the person is staying in the out-of-home setting.

Definition of a Relative
For this service, a relative is someone related by blood, marriage, or adoption, such as:

• Sibling

• Niece or nephew

• Grandparent

• Aunt or uncle
